Day 2 -Mount Nebo

Next stop after lunch was Mount Nebo.
According to 32:49-52; 34:1-6, God asked Moses to go to Mount Nebo where He showed Moses the promised land which he was not allowed to enter because he struck the rock twice instead of speaking to the rock as God had told him to. Full account in Numbers 20.
However, did Moses enter the promised land? In the New Testatment where the transfiguration took place, Moses was there so He did go to the promised land afterall.

Entrance Ticket

Entrance. Very windy and cold

A short walk from the entrance to the top. Nice walkway.

Our Jordan Guide. Behind is a sculpture, the Monolith of the 2000 Jubilee created by Vincenzo Bianchi. It was erected by the Catholic Church in celebration of the Pope's visit to Mount Nebo, Jordan. The Latin inscriptions at the base reads, "Unus Deus Pater Omnium Super Omnes," which is taken from Ephesians 4:6 in the Bible, which means "One God and Father of all, who is above all."

This was what Moses saw - vast land from right to left which God promise the children of Israel. Magnificent!
To the north is the River Jordan. The West Bank city of Jericho is also visible from the summit, as is Jerusalem on a very clear day
.

A replica of the brazen serpent in Numbers 21:9 : "And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived." God's provision for healing in the wilderness where there was no doctor. God was the physician
