TThe night accommodation was at hotel Mikiligardur, Sæmundarhlíð, Sauðárkrókur. It is also a hostel turned hotel during summer. We pulled in to the hotel in the rain.
Sauðárkrókur is a town in Skagafjörður in northern Iceland and a part of the municipality of Skagafjörður. Sauðárkrókur is the largest town in Northwest Iceland and the second-largest town on the north coast of Iceland, with a population of 2,572.
The hotel was cozy and the hotel staff who are students working part time during their summer holidays welcomed us with great service. We had a twin and triple room and all with attached bath.
This hotel was booked as part of a package we took from icelandroadtrip.com. We were checked in by Louise and she was very friendly, helpful and patient. She gave recommendations on where to eat and what to do. She also lent me a kettle and advised on the laundry. We paid 1000ISK for a load of 5kg.
Hotel was quite big. There was also a sitting area just outside our rooms. Hotel room generally was alright as it came with attached bath. Room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was adequate to start the day.
Would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in that area.
Hotel is situated near to the town so meals were not a problem.
