Day 7 - 福岡市赤煉瓦文化館 Fukuoka City Culture Center-> Shintendo 新天町-> Ohori Park 大濠公園, Ōhori-kōen - > Fukuoka Castle Ruins 福岡城, Fukuokajō

Then we walked along Meji Dori from Nakasukabata Station to Tenjin. Detoured to Fukuoka City Red Brick Culture Center (Former Kyushu branch of Nippon Life Insurance Company). This is on the first right turn after the canal. You will notice the prominent green dome-shaped roof when walking towards Tenjin. The first floor houses the Fukuoka City Literature Hall exhibition room and a cafe while the second floor is made up of several meeting rooms. It was used to be a historical museum but reopened in 1994 to the public under the name of Akarenga Bunka Kan (cultural Center).

Suikyo Tenmangu 水鏡天満宮 with its distinct bright red colour stood out along the way to Tenjin.

It was cold outside and we needed a warmer place so we headed for Tenjin Underground shopping street. We spent much time here the last trip.

We had not been to Shintendo 新天町 before so we got out from one of the exit to Shintendo 新天町. This is another shopping district with many shops and eateries.


The "clock tower" in Shintendo. Different song will be played at the hour with the characters moving. Not very spectular tho.

Next stop was Ohori Park, 2 stops away from Tenjin Station.


From Ohori Park, we talked to Fukuoka Castle. This is one of the entrances to Fukuoka Castle Ruins
