Taiwan Trip Dec 6-14 Day 5 Review of Hotel Bayview

We stayed the 2nd night (9Dec) at Hotel Bayview at Qi Xing Tan in Hualian. Again, we booked 2 rooms. Both were sea facing with balcony at NT2500 and NT2900 for a double room and a family room for 4 respectively. They do not have twin room so my 2 sons have to share 1 queen bed. My son complained that the comforter was not big enough to cover 2 persons. May be good if they can consider twin room with 2 single beds.

This room had a cute little bathtub for soaking.

The other room had 2 two queen beds. The flooring is tiled so it feel a little cold. Design is quite nice. The balcony is big.

This is the bathroom - no bath tub. The big rain shower is nice.

Bathroom amenities are ok.

Mini bar area with kettle and bottles of water

The keys to the rooms are pretty high tech – they are sensor-based so just need to tap the door with the key and the door will open. These are our rooms.

Hotel is very new as it opened recently. Front desk service is good and Juan Li’s command of written English was good. They provided free shuttle to/fro from the train station. Juan Li is the one in blue shirt - I initially thought that Juan Li was a girl!

Lobby is of reasonable size and design of the hotel is ok. Its theme, colour and design focuses mainly on the sea, fishes and ships. It also has a european design. Many fountains.

Coffee/tea room. The restrooms are inside too.

Inside the coffee/tea room. Free flow coffee/tea whole day

Top floor is a roof top where guests can view the Qi Xing Tan. Good for those whose room are without seaview. Also give guests with sea facing rooms a different view. Guest can view the surrounding areas too. Below castle-like hotel taken from thr roof top.

Breakfast is also ok with the usual Chinese and Western spread. Dishes to go with porridge.

Big and airy breakfast room

Exterior of hotel.

Hotel’s compound is ok but great improvement is needed desperately for the surrounding areas outside the hotel. Lots of old houses, slumps, looks like huge churns of rubbish to me. It is in direct contrast to the great sea view.

There are very few shops/eateries in this area so there are very limited choices. You have to settle your dinner in town before coming back here. There is a convenience store nearby though.
Hotel guests can use the hotel’s GAINT bicycle FOC and you can cycle on the well done/maintained cycling track along the sea. Nice. Hotel also provides maps of cycling tracks.

Overall, a nice and clean hotel except great improvements needed for the surroundings. See the next blog for the hotel's surroundings.
