Taiwan Trip Dec 6-14 Day 7 - 天母 / Lunch at Beitou

Took MRT to 石牌．　Analysed the map at the station wrongly and waited so long for the bus which did not stop. Later realised the opposite bus stop was the correct one. Once out of the station, the bus stop is on your right. We went to the bus stop on the left. Also realised that you need to look at the arrow heads on the bus route of each bus number.
Took bus to 天母 Banana Jeans. The bus stopped right in front of the shop but it did not have the stuff we wanted so we took the bus back to Shipa and went to Beitou Station.

Beitou MRT - the xin beitou train is very nicely decorated externally and internally with theme of hot spring.

新北投 station

Xin Beitou - We walked straight all the way to 溫泉路 to try the 滿來溫泉拉麵, recommended by 食尚玩家. In the oool weather, it was a very pleasant walk.

Waited for half an hour for our turn. Some people behind us were turned away as the shop will close from 3pm.

Side dishes - Small fishes/nuts and kimchi - we love the small fishes!

O What a feast! Ordered 3 sets of pork chop ramen and 2 fishfood ramen - it was too much! Cost about ~NT1200. Quite nice, quite different from the usual ramen. This one has more ingredients.

The crowd is gone!

Nice stream and very pleasant walk. There are people soaking their legs in the stream.


Many hot spring hotels here - next time we will try

Next stop - Yangminshan. First stop - Yangminshan flower clock. Pretty deserted that day.

Visted 小油坑 just before lunch. It was very misty at 小油坑. Temperature was 13C. Not able to take any photo. Lunch was at 竹子湖青菜園 after 小油坑. 竹子湖 is famous for the wild vegetables and calla lilies 海芋. Baby 海芋 are starting to grow. Ate wild vegetables when on business trip many years ago so brought my family to try this trip!
Ordered wild vegetables - cabbage and potato leaves. Nice!


Tofu - ok.

Beef - ok
Took the sweet potato soup and beehoon. Beehoon so so only. Sweet potato is sweet but its soup is ordinary - taste more like ginger water -also no pandan flavour.

Just pay NT30 and the soup only is free flow since the prices of raw material had gone. You help yourself to the pot.

Did not order the steam chicken. Wanted to order a small 麻油雞 but it came in very big pot and tasted very oily. At the end, more than half pot still remained.

This lunch costed also about NT1200 for 5 people. Quite unexpectedly X. These 2 vegetables costed only NT50 each. Not sure how the bill became so high! Very strangely, during this trip, I was never shown the breakdown of the bill. I was also quite muddle headed to forget to ask for it. On average, all the meals costed around NT1200.
Inside 青菜園 - it became full house later. you need to go to the front (where the lady dressed in red is) to order the food.

After lunch, wanted to visit Beitou Helly Valley but it was closed for maintenance/renovation. Only took a glance at the steam/smoke from the taxi at its entrance. Went to visit Beitou sulphur valley instead.
