Day 3 : Taipa Food Village(Rua do Cunha), 大利來記豬扒包, 達榮魚翅湯麵

After check-in, we decided to walk to Taipai Old Village. Took some pictures along the way. Outside Hotel West Lobby.

Outside Hotel West Lobby

Keep walking till you reach the north of the hotel (right of photo).
Cross the wide road, turn left and walk straight until you reach the Taipa Old Village.

Follow these road signs for directions to Taipa Old Village.

Once you reached Taipa Old Village, turn right and walk straight till you see this red shack which is 大利來記. They started selling the pork chop bun before 3pm today but there was already a queue. Did not wait very long though.

Largo de Governador Tamagnini Barbosa where 大利來記 is. There is a bus stop opposite.

Bus Stop

Tin Hua Temple (天后宮) near the square.

氹仔北地廟 - The Temple of Pak Tai, built in the 24th year of Daoguang Reign (1844), is one of the biggest temple of Taipa, secondary to the Temple of Pou Tai Un.

Nice Musuem that looked like the Tapai House Museums

大利來記 eating/drinking area

大利來記豬扒包 - IMO, not as good as 勝利. 勝利's pork chop is also thicker and bigger. Check it out yourself.

勝利茶餐廳豬扒包

Leitaria I Son 豬扒包

Milk Tea - you add the tea yourself. This shop does not accept HK10 coins. My first encounter so far.

Nearby is 地堡街 Rua do Regedor, with many eateries on both sides of the street

Clean and colourful 地堡街. 大利來記 is on the left side.

達榮魚翅湯麵 - our next stop to try the shark fin noodles

Street scene taken from 達榮魚翅湯麵 shop

Inside 達榮魚翅湯麵 shop

魚翅湯麵 - Generous serving of the shark fins but these tasted a little fishy. Noodles was good though.

大利來記 - the queue is gone. 豬扒包 sold out?

We walked this way to 官也街. Later realised 官也街 can be reached from 地堡街 too. I got a map but forgot to refer to it.

Entrance to 官也街

It is a very short shopping street though.

Lots of shops selling cookies. 莫義記 Mo Yi Kei on the right

晃記餅家 - the one with yellow sign board and with a queue. This shop's almond cookies is nicer than 鉅記 which is found almost everywhere. I tried the cookies first bought back by my colleague and found it very nice. Will be shopping at this shop tonight after dinner.

城昌飯店 - We will have dinner here tonight.

Banana Leaf in Macau?

Out of 官也街. Pinocchio Restaurant (yellow building) on the left.

  2. No, it depends. Which particular places are you refering? To Taipa Old village and back from House Museum, we went on foot to and from Venetian. When we went for the Taipa village for dinner, we took cab to and fro.

On the Macau Hertiage Trail, we took cab to Penha Church and walked all the way to Senado/St Paul Ruins and its urrounding areas. It was a very nice walk in the cool weather.

Normally, when we are hard pressed for time, tired or when we are not sure of the way, we took cab. Hope this helps.
